Penne Pasta with Hot Italian Sausage

Penne Pasta with Grilled Hot Italian Sausage

  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Thai Blend
  • 4 hot Italian sausages
  • 1 28oz can stewed tomatoes 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Cook penne according to package directions.

Grill 4 hot Italian links until almost completely cooked through and slice into one inch pieces. The final part of the cooking will occur in the sauce.

In a large deep skillet over medium-high, add olive oil. Add onion, garlic, Italian seasoning and Thai Blend. Stir frequently and cook until the onions become translucent, 3 to 4 minutes. Add stewed tomatoes and stir all ingredients together until combined. Add the sliced hot Italian sausage, salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients and reduce heat and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream.

Drain the pasta and add it directly to the sauce. Toss the pasta in the sauce until well coated.
